The May Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Society was held this month. Following the opening of the meeting by the President the Chairman and officers presented their reports. This was followed by the election of officers and committee.

The B.O.C Tankard for the most table show points gained in the year was won by Bryan Adams, and the O.S.G.B. Salver for novice growers was awarded to Frances Moss. The President’s Cup, Awarded in recognition of service to the Society was presented to our retiring Chairman Min Kennison.

Following the formal business of the meeting there followed a screening of ‘Wild Orchids of Borneo’, introduced by Anthony Lamb, formerly of the Sabah Forestry Department. In the programme he introduced us to the various habitats in the Crocker Mountains, home to a wide variety of orchids many rarely seen in collections.

The table show was won by Colin Thorburn with a plant of Brassia “Arania Verde”.
