The June Meeting

This month our Secretary, Colin Thorburn, gave an account of his visit to Taiwan where he attended the 23rd World Orchid Conference and Show. This took place at the Tainan Conference Centre. At the conference speakers from around the world presented papers on a wide range of topics, with a strong focus on ecology and conservation. The exhibition centred around the individual plant competitions for which Colin was one of over 200 international judges. A display by the Dr Cecelia Koo Conservation Centre introduced delegates to the wild orchids of Taiwan and landscape displays by several national societies from south east Asia completed the show.

Table show winner this month was Joan and Jack butcher with a fine example of Bulbophyllum annandaleii.
